Hey, my name is Katie Avery
I’m endlessly curious, wildly sentimental & almost always juggling three to five ideas at once. I love the richness of life - good stories, beautiful atmosphere, little details & the ordinary moments that somehow become the ones we miss most. I’m quick to laugh, impossible to embarrass & genuinely love people; I’ll compliment a stranger in the bathroom and probably know your entire family tree by the end of our session. More than anything, I want the people in front of my camera to feel like they are enough as they are right now. Let me show you how beautiful you are through my lens. ♥
My approach
To me, photography is less about fitting into a box & more about creating magic. Learning to recognize what each moment needs has been one of the most important parts of developing my craft.
A wedding day may call for galvanizing prompts that spark genuine reactions, or carefully placed hands & intentional editorial posing. But there’s just as much importance in knowing when to simply observe - recognizing those ephemeral moments before they disappear. A nervous hand squeeze, wiping away tears, or knowing a meaningful hug is coming before it happens.
I’m a calm presence in the storm, but electrifying when it’s time to take action.
